Today was the opening day of the 61st annual Beaux Arts Festival of Art, at the University of Miami, sponsored by the Lowe Art Museum on the Coral Gables campus. There were hundreds of art exhibits — from sculpture and pottery, to paintings and photography, and jewelry — and thousands of people enjoying the creative talent on display. Plus, since this is the School of Communication blog, we can’t fail to mention that the Miami Herald and New York Times also had tents.
The weather was perfect — sunny & warm. The festival continues through tomorrow, Sunday, Jan. 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free, parking isn’t a problem, and if you get tired and hungry from perusing the hundreds of artistic tents, there are dozens of food vendors, covered seating, and live musical entertainment.
